Joju Kids
Turning screen time into active participation.
Problem
Caregivers want kids to be engaged, not just consumed by content. Planning meaningful activities takes hours; defaulting to YouTube takes seconds.
Insight
I often help care for my nephews remotely. On FaceTime calls, I'd share my screen so they could watch cartoons or do activities while I virtually babysat. What started as a workaround revealed a category: caregivers need support designing engaging experiences without becoming part-time activity directors.
Product
Joju Kids is an AI-powered family activity and learning companion. It helps caregivers — parents, aunties, uncles, grandparents — discover and run educational, creative, and engaging experiences with the children in their lives.
Key Features
- Age- and interest-aware activity recommendations.
- Caregiver-friendly playbooks with materials, timing, and follow-up prompts.
- Remote-caregiver mode for video-call activities.
- Learning themes that grow with the child.
Product Journey
- Born from FaceTime babysitting sessions with my nephews.
- Prototyped the remote-caregiver mode first, then the broader activity engine.
Challenges
- Designing for two users at once — the caregiver and the child — with different needs and different attention spans.
Lessons Learned
- The best family products take work off the caregiver, not add to it.
Future Vision
Become the trusted companion that every modern family — and every modern caregiver — reaches for when they want to do something together.
