Problem
Property management is run on spreadsheets, WhatsApp threads, and paper receipts. Owners can't see what their managers are doing; tenants can't get answers; agents lose deals to disorganization.
Context
Waitlist is a multi-sided platform connecting every actor in a property's lifecycle — listings, tenancy, payments, maintenance, and reporting — in one ecosystem.
Approach
- Mapped the property lifecycle across all five personas and identified the highest-friction handoffs.
- Designed role-based experiences with a shared underlying ledger of facts about the property.
- Sequenced the roadmap to land value with one persona at a time without painting future personas into a corner.
Key Contributions
- A property — not a user — is the central object the system organizes itself around.
- Multi-sided onboarding: an owner can invite their manager; a manager can invite their tenants.
Tradeoffs
- Resisting the urge to ship vertical features that only serve one persona, in favor of cross-persona depth.
Outcome
- Early customer traction with property managers running portfolios end-to-end on the platform.
Impact
- Replacing fragmented tools with a single source of truth for real estate operations.

- Multi-sided platforms must earn the right to ask each side to change behavior — start with the side that has the most pain.
